Munich, 16 December 2010. Terrific news for all motorsport fans in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland: Sky and Formula One will continue their successful long-term partnership.

Carsten Schmidt, Chief Officer, Sports, Advertising Sales & Internet at Sky: “This agreement is an early Christmas present for our customers and all fans of auto racing across Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. The excitement of the World Championship last season was nearly impossible to top. Sebastian Vettel captivated all racing fans with his matchless talent for the sport. Only Sky can deliver the true experience of Formula One in its entirety, and 2011 should be the most exciting ever.

Bernie Ecclestone, CEO Formula One Group: “I am happy that Sky is continuing its broadcast of Formula One.2

Formula One has been one of the major highlights of Sky’s top-class programming for over 14 years. Since the first race on 28 July 1996 at the Hockenheimring race track, Sky has offered live coverage from across the world. Sky’s duo of Jacques Schulz and Marc Surer commentated on their 250th consecutive race in Abu Dhabi recently. With the extension of the contract, Sky continues to be the only German television broadcaster who offers viewers the entire race weekend from the first free practice until the race is complete.

Sky will announce detailed information on the editorial scope of its Formula One broadcasting as a part of a press conference before the start of the new season.
