Sky Deutschland to expand HD offer to up to 30 channels

• Sky Deutschland AG will extend its market leading HD offer, providing even more choice, quality and value for German and Austrian viewers
• Expansion begins with the 1 June launch of the HD+ channels – including RTL HD, VOX HD, RTL 2 HD, Sat. 1 HD, ProSieben HD, kabel eins HD, Sixx HD and SPORT1 HD – available to all Sky satellite customers with appropriate set-top-boxes
• Additional channels are to be added throughout the year, including a new and exclusive third Sky Sport HD channel, plus the previously announced Sky Sport News HD
• New Sky Sport HD channel as well as Sky Sport News HD will be available via satellite, selected cable systems, and of course, Sky Go
• Sky expects to extend its offering to 30 HD channels this winter, including 15 top quality channels exclusive to the Sky packages

Munich, 3 May 2011. Sky Deutschland will expand its high-quality HD offering significantly. The Sky customers will be able to enjoy up to 30 HD channels by the end of the year including 15 channels exclusive to the Sky packages. The next step of the expansion will be the cooperation with HD+ that becomes effective on June 1st 2011. It will enable Sky satellite customers with an NDS smartcard and a Sky HD receiver to access another eight HD channels. Sky will launch a third Sport HD channel at the start of the new Bundesliga season. Sky Sport News HD, the first 24/7 live sport news channel will be launched in winter. Both services are accessible via satellite, in selected cable networks, and via Sky Go.

Since last year more than one million customers with HD-ready set-top-boxes can enjoy HD on Sky without additional costs because the Sky Welt basic package already includes four fantastic HD Channels with Discovery HD, National Geographic HD, History HD and Eurosport HD.

The excellent quality of the Sky HD offering was recently awarded by the readers of the publications of publishing house Auerbach. Around two million readers of various business magazines voted Sky the winner in the category “Best HDTV Provider”.
