New HD channels and exclusive top first-run blockbuster films:
Sky Deutschland extends its multi-year agreements with NBCUniversal

• Two new HD channels, Syfy HD and 13th Street Universal HD, available on Sky beginning 17 January 2013; multi-year extension to the Syfy and 13th Street Universal channel carriage agreements; further expansion of the HD portfolio in 2013
• Multi-year extension to the output deal with NBCUniversal
International TV Distribution for exclusive pay TV and SVOD rights for top first-run movies, including Sky's Film channels, Sky Anytime and Sky Go
• Exclusive TV premieres on Sky's Film channels including award nominees Les Misérables starring Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe and Anne Hathaway, and Anna Karenina starring Keira Knightley and Jude Law, as well as the upcoming Oblivion starring Tom Cruise

Unterföhring, 07/01/2013 – Sky Deutschland is expanding its relationship with Universal Networks International Germany. As part of this new agreement, Syfy HD and 13th Street Universal HD will be available to all Sky satellite customers for the first time starting 17 January 2013, and the Syfy and 13th Street Universal carriage agreement has also been extended. Sky also plans to further expand its HD portfolio over the course of the year, as part of the multi-year deal. On top of that, highlight programs of the two channels can be made available on demand via Sky Anytime and Sky Go.

In addition, by extending its feature film licensing agreements with NBCUniversal International TV Distribution, Sky Deutschland has secured rights for upcoming top first-run films. These agreements include exclusive German pay TV and SVOD premiere broadcasting rights for transmission across satellite, cable, internet and mobile platforms, as well as via Sky´s innovative services. Sky Anytime allows Sky customers to watch their favourite films and series whenever they want – on demand, uncut, at no extra cost and before they are available on other German and Austrian channels or SVOD services. Sky Go offers true flexibility; with hundreds of fantastic films available on demand and on the go. Customers can watch online, on their Xbox 360, or on their iPad, iPhone or iPod touch. 

Universal films will also be made available for rental through Sky´s pay-per-view service, Sky Select.

Additional highlights include the start of the two new HD channels, Syfy HD and 13th Street HD (available via satellite), in January. Also in January will be the premieres of the digitally remastered versions of the second season of "Star Trek - The next Generation" on Syfy HD as well as new seasons of the popular crime drama series "Law & Order" on 13th Street Universal HD. Fans can also vote for their favourite investigative teams on television during the "Crème de la Crime" viewer voting. And with the German premiere of the science fiction drama “Alphas" in February, viewers can look forward to a new generation of investigators in brilliant HD quality on Syfy HD.
